Mime Yamahiro Brinkmann

Baroque Cello

The Japanese cellist Mime Yamahiro Brinkmann received her performance diploma for cello at Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo in 1994. She then specialized in historical performance at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and obtained her soloist diploma in 2000. Mime is a prizewinner of the ‘Concorso Internazionale Romano Romanini per strumenti ad arco’ (Brescia, Italy) and the first cellist to win the soloist prize at the Concours Musica Antiqua Brugge (Belgium).

Mime Yamahiro Brinkmann is active as a soloist and as a member of leading music groups around the world. She participates in tours, festivals, opera productions, and recordings, and gives master classes and coaches orchestras at festivals around the world. She currently resides in Sweden, where she is a member of the Drottningholm Baroque Ensemble and teaches baroque cello at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm.
