Sascha Armbruster

Saxophone

Sascha Armbruster was born in Lahr/Schwarzwald (Germany). He first studied in Basel with Iran Roth and Marcus Weiss. After studying at the Conservatoire in Paris under Claude Delangle and receiving the Premier prix à l’Unanimité, he specialized in contemporary music and related genres.

During his tours as a soloist and in chamber ensembles, he has performed at renowned festivals in Japan, the USA, and across Europe. He has played with leading contemporary music ensembles such as Ensemble Modern, Ensemble Recherche, and Klangforum Wien. As a founder and member of the ARTE Quartett (Basel), he has collaborated with musicians such as Tim Berne, Marc Ducret, Pierre Favre, Fred Frith, Urs Leimgruber, and Terry Riley. Since the winter of 2001, he has been teaching at the Conservatoire in Lucerne.
